About this Talk

Come and enjoy a journey learning to work with parents over 30+ years. It started with Mrs. Bobath, who had a wonderful way of engaging families to take her home programs to the far ends of the Earth. However, my first try in Greece was a disaster and I began to think 'How do I connect with parents’? This presentation will take you from the past, present and into the future; covering many long-term cases, and the lessons learned. My favourite is ‘Ayni’; building a reciprocal relationship in which both therapist and family bring equal power and decision making. This journey will explore cases from London to Greece to America to Micronesia and finally to Australia. So come ponder and question all the amazing gems parents have gifted me over this long and enjoyable career. And perhaps even wonder if parents might just be the most valuable resource in your toolbox.
