About this Talk

The professional identity of therapists in the health professions, relied on our training as those who stand with a flashlight in their hands - illuminating their surroundings but remaining somewhat in the dark. But The therapist is not just an observer of the environment but he is present in it and his very existence changes it and shapes it. The interaction created between him and his patients, as well as his personality, desires, wants and needs, are central intervening factors in the therapeutic process. At this presentation l will share main insights following many hours of listening to the stories of functional therapists who chose to specialize and work with populations with complex disabilities, As part of a qualitative study dealing with the figure of the therapists. We will talk about the timeline of the therapist's journey, From choice to professional establishment and burnout. And we will discusse overt and hidden influences that accompany us, therapist, as part of these processes.
