About this Talk

Ever wondered what ABA is? Dr. Richard Fleming is a developmental psychologist with an extensive background in direct care, research, and psychological services, particularly focusing on individuals with intellectual disabilities and autism spectrum disorders. In this presentation, he will introduce Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) including an overview of the professional background of ABA professionals. Videos and case studies illustrate how ABA has been used to address barriers to oral health for those with IDD in collaboration with individuals with IDD, their caregivers, and other professionals (i.e. oral health triad). Dr. Fleming will also cover topics including task analysis, social stories, systematic desensitization, and graduated exposure ranging from personal stories to his NIH-funded research projects.
