About this Talk

Unilateral CP (U-CP) (Hemiplegia) is the most common type of CP and accounts for 38% of the children with CP. Common features of the impaired hand are abnormal muscle tone, slowness and decreased strength and coordination difficulties and sensory abnormalities. In the past two decades there is a growing body of evidence supporting the effectiveness of Constraint Induced Movement Therapy – CIMT in treating adults and children with Unilateral CP-hemiplegia yet less is known about this treatment in infants. My lecture, "CIMT Vs Bimanual Therapy in infants, looking beyond intensity” will begin by presenting the results of a randomized controlled trial comparing m-CIMT and Bimanual Therapy in infants. Then, we will go on to address the question of factors that might influence treatment outcomes and thereby enable us to individualize the choice between the two.
